Our Story
Our Story
01 / Our beginnings
Tokyo Dealers Stock was founded to bring Japanese art closer to people around the world and into everyday life. Our team includes second- and third-generation dealers from long-established Japanese galleries and specialists in art appraisal and artist promotion. Drawing on generations of expertise and a network across Japan, we offer carefully selected art and source works beyond our online collection, including pieces at higher price points, tailored to your taste, space, and budget.
02 / Living with art
Japanese Art in Modern Living
Japandi combines Japanese simplicity with Scandinavian warmth, favoring natural materials, calm colors, and thoughtful space. At Tokyo Dealers Stock, we pair this approach with Nihonga and Japanese art, bringing seasonal beauty, rich textures, and a personal connection to culture into modern interiors. Choose works that complement the room's palette, proportions, and furniture. Share your space, taste, and budget with us, and we can help you find art that makes the room feel distinctly yours.
03 / A quiet introduction
A Guide to Japanese Art
Nihonga uses mineral pigments or ink on paper or silk. Ukiyo-e & Japanese Prints draws on woodblock traditions. Modern Japanese Art reflects artistic change; contemporary art explores new ideas. Prints & Editions covers editioned works, including contemporary prints. Calligraphy turns writing into art. Materials describe what a work is made from; image size differs from framed or scroll size. Check framing and condition notes for stains or wear, and print technique and edition details. Ask us for guidance.
04 / Care from Japan
From Japan to Your Home
Choose a work online or contact us for a personal recommendation. Before ordering, review its dimensions, condition, and delivery terms. After payment, we pack the artwork appropriately and arrange shipment from Japan to your chosen address. On arrival, unpack carefully and check the work before displaying it. Use fittings suited to its weight. Avoid direct sunlight, heat, and sudden humidity changes. For storage, use suitable protective housing in a stable environment. Contact us for care advice.
